古墳時代中期、つまりは今から約１６００年前に作られた円形古墳。
直径８０ｍ 高さ１０ｍで京都で最大の円墳です。
由良川中流域には１０００を越える古墳が作られました。
一緒に埋葬されていた武具や農工具から当時由良川中流域を支配していた王だと考えられている。また一緒に埋葬されていたものに関しては兄弟か親かは不明である。
発見
１９８８年舞鶴若狭道の工事の際に発見され１９９３年より公開された。
公開に先立ち、有志によって、由良川の河川の石が葺石として敷き詰められた。
その数６万。そして円形埴輪の数は８９７本
現在も無料で訪れることができる。そして週末はライトアップしております。
また発掘された実物は綾部資料館に展示されており、これも無料で見学できます。
3. Kisaichi Maruyama Kofun
(The circle tomb in Kisaichi)
This is the tomb which was made in the fifth century.
The diameter is 80m
The height is 10m.
This tomb is the biggest circle tomb in Kyoto pref.
There were two body buried in the tomb. One of them is king of Yura river basin.and another is unknown
In Yura basin, there are about 1000 tombs like this.
How they found it.
In 1988, when they constructed Maiduru-Wakasa Highway , accidentally they found this tomb in the mountain.From 1993, the city started exposing to the public. Before that, people bring rocks and stones of Yura river to tombs for covering and decorating the tomb.
The number of stone became 60000 pieces.
and there are 897 statue, called HANIWA.
The park is open as free of charge.
and in the weekend, they are lighten up.
The things they excavated are displayed at Ayabe museum of history as also free of charge.
